How do I book a tour?

Consult our online booking tool to view our schedule and make a reservation immediately. You may also contact us by phone at 508-367-9422 and by email at booking@capemarshkayaking.com to make a reservation for your kayaking tour. We will make every effort to get back to you immediately, but may be occupied on the water until early evening.

How difficult is the kayaking (can I go if I’ve never kayaked before)?

The majority of the tour is easy paddling and yes you can go if you’ve never kayaked before! One of my favorite aspects of this work is bringing people out kayaking for the first time. However, this is not a lazy river at your local water park—you will have to put in some effort to move the boat! There are times where wind and tide can make the paddling more strenuous, but you don’t need to be in great shape to do it.

What should I bring with me?

We recommend that you wear clothing appropriate for being at the beach. The following items are recommended for every trip: a bathing suit and a shirt that dries quickly, footwear that you don’t mind getting wet (water shoes, old sneakers, flip flops, etc.) hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, insect repellent and a snack for the break period. We do provide DRY BAGS for those who want to bring a cellphone, camera or other item sensitive to water exposure. However, we do not guarantee that they will remain completely dry!

Where do we meet for the tour?

Each tour meets at a public boat landing where Cape Marsh Kayaking will have all the equipment. The addresses for each paddle can be found here on our website. Go to the CapeMarshKayaking.com home page, click on tours and then scroll down for the google map with the launch sites.

What time should we arrive for the tour?

We suggest that you arrive to the address of the tour about 20 minutes prior to the scheduled tour time to allow enough time to park in the appropriate areas and get outfitted with your equipment.

Is there parking available at the boat launch?

The parking lots at both tour sites are only available to those with town beach parking stickers. Therefore, parking must be along the road. At Scudders Lane in Barnstable please park along the right side of the road facing the water. The legal parking doesn’t start for about a 100 feet. At Hemenway landing in Eastham park anywhere along the road before the parking lot.

Are kids able to paddle in the tours?

Yes, but these are my recommendations:

  • 1. Children under 4 years of age: Should wait to come out kayaking.
  • 2. Children 5-9: Should go in a tandem kayak as the front passenger.

The child will be in the front seat with their own paddle while the adult in the rear of the boat will do most of the kayaking. For kids that are 100lbs or more, we would like to put them in their own kayak if they are fit enough to paddle for the duration of the tour. Please notify us in the comment section or by e-mail if you would like to use a tandem with your child.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

Cape Cod’s weather is unpredictable and even the weathermen have a difficult time being accurate. We are constantly checking the weather and will notify you by the phone number you provided if we must cancel a trip as soon as possible. In most cases we will call early in the morning of the day of the tour and/or at least 2 hours before the scheduled tour. We respect that you are on vacation and want you to be able to plan an alternative activity for the day.

Can I get a refund on the tour if it is canceled?

If Cape Marsh Kayaking has to cancel a tour we will do everything that we can to try and get you out on the water as soon as possible. With respect to busy schedules and planned activities while on Cape Cod, if we cannot accommodate you we will refund your deposit. There are no refunds issued if you cancel.
